Do I need to bring my own coat hangers?

We provide all coat hangers for your rack, including pant and shirt hangers. We prefer you use our coat hangers for a uniform display and ease of use.


What items can I sell?

We accept most types of clothing, accessories and shoes. Please make sure all clothes are in sellable condition (i.e no marks, tears, stains). Clothes should be in a condition that you would gift to a family member or friend.

At The Happy Rack, our stock is more high quality than what you would find at an op-shop. We sell brands from designer to household.

We don't recommend selling formal clothes as occasion wear (prom, bridesmaid, tuxedos) is hard to sell and usually requires more time and customer preparation to purchase.

We also do not accept swimwear and intimates, or dupe items.


Can I sell a faux item?

No, sorry. Designer items must be authentic in order to sell at The Happy Rack. If we believe an item is not true, we will remove it from the floor and you will not be allowed to sell if you can’t prove authenticity.


How do I price my items?

Although it depends on the brand and style, as a guide: T-shirts $5 to $40, Dresses $10 to $80, Jeans/Trousers $15 to $50, Coats/Jackets $20 to $100.

If it is a new item with tags, 60% of the original price is recommended. Don't over price. That won't help your sales.  A good way of thinking is... "what would I pay for this item if I found it at The Happy Rack?" That's probably what other people are happy to pay too.  


Do I need to sell my own items?

No, you definitely do not need to be present at the shop to sell your items. Unlike a one-day market event, or selling your preloved goods on an online platform, you simply price and tag your items, bring them in store to set up your rack, and leave the rest to us! Happy days!

What if I don’t make back my rental fee?

If for some reason you don’t make back the money spent on your rack (a very rare situation) you will not be charged commission on your items. For example, if you spent $150.00 and you made $165 (rack rental price plus 10%) you will not be charged the 10% commission.


FAQs for buyers

I would like to return an item

Apologies, due to the nature of our business we cannot return an item as we may have already paid the seller. If you would like to return an item, say a zip was damaged - we need to know within 24hours. Please ensure all items are looked over prior to leaving the shop.
